What are you talking about!? This was actualy rated one of the worst, why??? Because no one can use it most of the time the program takes up all of your resources, which makes doing even the simplest things impossible

Hey bigbigbuddy, pardon me for being crude but AVG free is SHIT.
It literally does nothing other than hogging memory and wasting drive space.

Whenever it scans it says "Rootkit 0/0, Warnings 0/0, Spyware 0/0".
    Thought I'd let you know...

Underlining this: I'm talking about the free version. I would assume that the paid one does work properly.

Go Avast, and never look back. Or Nod 32. Maybe Avira could work, too.
Norton is bad, Symantec is bad, McAfee I don't know.

EDIT: AVG does protect you while you browse... only if you use IE.

Just to throw in my 2 cents , AVG Free , Threatfire , Peerblock, firefox + addons noscript/add block plus, Comodo free firewall.

been virus free for a very long time, and if i was about to catch something (VERY rarely), those would stop it dead in its tracks before it has a chance to do anything.

Oh, and I had Norton in my 6-year-old PC until September (read: until I finally got Internet ) and it was very very bad.
    Now it has AVG. ^^
(Before AVG I tried Avast and got very disappointed, so I wouldn't recommend that one)

I would just like to mention that the community here is being great and I don't regret joining.
