    Default Download Slowdowns?

I've been trying to gather a few Gamecube isos within the past two days here at Emuparadise. Within the few days, download speeds have plummeted considerably after every download finished. I'm wondering if there's some kind of bandwidth limit the site itself imposes on heavy traffic downloaders or if something's just not up to par, server end. Currently running on Road Runner high speed internet (30 MB down / 5 MB Up / 10~15 PING). I even ran a test to find out if my ISP is throttling my download speeds. Results showed no indication.

As for an example, I tried to download Sonic Adventure 2 just earlier, a 1.2 GB file. Normally, my net can handle such a download in about 10, maybe 15 minutes on slower days. My download was showing it wasn't to be finished for another 3 hours and I was getting a trickle of about 130~160 KBps.

Of course, I'm not asking someone to go through some Olympic task of code-monkeying with the distributor server or check the colo's latency and net speeds, but this sure is sluggish. When I first started getting NGC ISOs, I was able to download about 800~900 KBps, a much more respectable speed. Doing a rough estimate, that's an 80% slowdown from the standard speeds. All I'm wondering is if there's something going on and a way to speed up my download rate back to normal? Appreciate any clues or answers, thanks in advance!

It could be due to network conditions or just high amount of traffic. I would assume the latter if you tried downloading on the weekend. We usually get hit with a lot of traffic on Saturdays and Sundays. Could you please try on Monday and let me know if the problem still persists ? Would love to diagnose it and better balance our servers so that you can get better speeds!

Thanks, I'll give a heads up when Monday rolls around server side to find out if there's a performance difference.

I never have any probs here.

    Day, night, weekends anytime.

    Could it be the service.

Ie Megaupload/Filesonic or whatever you are using

Not using any of those, this is straight from Emuparadise's FTP.

It's rolling around 23:00 in my area and speeds have climbed back up to 85% the normal speeds with odd fluctuations (download wavers between 430~KBps to 680~KBps). Net on my side still showing stable rates analogous to the normal tests. I think MasJ may have guessed it, that it's a very noticeable pull on the FTP server during weekends. It's still got a drag down on my downloads, but not nearly as severe as before.

Updating again, I'm noticing another severe slowdown, seeing rates I experienced earlier this week. Peaking at 250 KBps at the most, but often meandering back down to lesser speeds. Performing another scan on my ISP's current speeds shows no difference from the past tests. I'm going as far as checking to see if unauthorized connections on my network are running, but no shows.
