I agree on the xeon's and the fact they are stupid an i7 will outperform an i5 anyday thats why I had "gamers" in quotes when I build I'm going for the i5 but thats more of a lower cost plus don't think i will be using many programs that will take full advantage of the hyper threading.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great processor. But there's no argument at all, an i7 is better. Period. Also, you'd be surprised, many devs are utilizing multiple cores now a days.
