I know the feeling well, I have barely started Christmas shopping for my 3 kids.

Try @ES, it will change the way you emulate games

Wasnt someone here a MEGA-fan of SOTN? ....One of the MODs, no? I HATE looking at those cheat guides, my eyes always dart-around and I end-up spoiling things for myself..
    Saturn or PSOne? Just curious!

THANKS, everyone! Yes.....did everything and got those goggles. Is there nothing left to do down in that area with the mini-pyramid? (The place where whats-her-face gives me the goggles..) That room looks awfully quiet and ominous...nothing else to do there?

I flew up there and faced Richter......he did the Irish Jig across my ballsack.....

It dawned on me to turn to the Mist when he does his balls-out attacks, but he is unpredictable as hell, and I just cant time it right....
I am at level 28 and I have 250ish HP, btw...

    Ughhh -

Roux, PSP; emulated via the PS1. Didnt know they made a version for Saturn...hmmm...

Kouen, BTW......THANKS for the "spoiler free" Inverted Castle question, man! Good lookin out!

It's a nice version, has a few extras but not that big a deal, I guess... Still, I prefer the Saturn version for some reason, even though the controls are kinda... Inadecuate?

Did you follow Cola's (obvious) tip? I don't remember Richter being that hard...

"Obvious tips" -? What tips? Beef tips with sour cream sauce?

I followed what several others mentioned, yup. I'll have to go an re-read more clearly....

I see the little green olive hanging above his head, and my attacks take a good chunk, its just that he pounces on me like a methed-out kangaroo...

My biggest trouble is that I become confused between these 'Metroidvanias'. I have loved them all, but I get crossed as to which is which because they are all so similar. (Jonathan! Charlotte!)

Is the orb dark-based? I can't remember... But if it is, you should use a Holy-based weapon. If, for some reason, you wish to kill Richter, use a dark-based weapon instead...

"dark-based"? I think I know what you mean....some of the gear will say "+2 against undead", etc. I never really pay attention to that in these games, heh. I am using a two-handed sword that deals the most damage.

Actually, I'd rather not kill Richter....have I got to? From what I have read/heard, doesnt his demise 'open up' the 'Inverted Castle'?

    Beats me...

What is that GBA one called? The one thats the 'companion' to SOTN? 'Harmony of Despair' or something like this....?

I NEED to get that ROM....I love that (first?) GBA game nearly as much as SOTN...

His demise opens up the bad ending.

Wiping out that orb (holy glasses required) will allow you to progress further.

If you're still using Estoc, try swapping for a faster weapon so it'll be easier to dodge. I can't think of what I'd use there off the top of my head. Holy Sword/Rod maybe?

Dark based would be something like Tyrfing (or Mormegil? Whatever it's called). The flavor text will say it's a dark sword of some sort. Not the one that has -30 attack.

As for killing Richter, killing him gives you the "bad" ending, winning without killing him opens the inverted castle.

GBA ones are Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow. None are directly related, though. Harmony of Despair is the multiplayer one on PS3/360.

Raype, I seeeee.....thanks, man. I think I get it.....destroy the 'possesor', not Richter, himself?

    Just checked, found:

    GBA Harmony of Dissonance
    GBA Aria of Sorrow
    GBA Circle of the Moon

    DS Order of Ecclesia
    DS Dawn of Sorrow
    DS Portrait of Ruin

So then, SOTN included, there are seven of these beauties.....wow....I'm sure I missed a couple, somewhere..

I was playing one a while back, unsure of the system, but the opening scenes looked and sounded like an 'anime' from the Fox Kids' Network; turned me straight-off... Also, played a couple for PS2. One was ok, but the other was sooooo boooorrrrrring...it became so friggin repetitive I thought that the game had glitched..ughh..

Cola, thanks! I love me some Estoc, though! Yup...I have several 'Holy' weapons...I'll try 'em.

Probably Dawn of Sorrow or Portrait of Ruin on the DS. They both dispensed with the darker art style for more anime-ish portraits. Order of Ecclesia returned to the the more gothic art style portraits.

I wish they had kept the gothic stlye art, esspecially for Dawn of Sorrows since the GBA entry already had the established art style, though they're still great.
