It's ironic that I chastise myself for not spending any time with those types of games. But as was postulated in the book Monsters and Mazes, the role playing game experience serves neurotic needs that are not being met in the sufferer's real life. Gaming is in general just an offshoot of that same desperate need to find a modicum of control over something else; even if that something is just bits and polygons dancing around on a screen with the accompanying bells and whistles that hope to synthesize a meaningful existence out of sloth and self delusion.

I'm going to see what kinds of Wii games are in K-Mart's bargain bin when I go to pick up my antacid prescription.
