I have had 2 elites and 2 arcades blow up, and the last one I had was an arcade to which I added a 60GB (I think) HD. I sold it while it was still functioning.

The elites dying is what baffled me. I had one for 6 days, the other I had for about 20 days. Both red ring'd.

I remember you mentioning it at one point actually, quite astonishing that they would fail so fast. What was it, like over half of all the systems have had some sort of rrod? crazy stuff. Hope they learned from this if a 3rd system comes out.

Maybe an especially bad batch of solder being used

Failure rates on the older consoles were always pretty high anyway.........which is one reason I waited so long to buy a 360 myself.
I don't want JTAG if it means I have what potentially can be unreliable hardware........but that's just me being old and lazy
