I have to agree with this! I bought Twilight Princess on the Gamecube when it was released and I loved it. My girlfriend is currently playing through it on the Wii and I've played a few times with it and I just can't get used to it. I feel as though motion control is in some ways a bit gimmicky - it's great for a particular genre of game but I think a game like Zelda just doesn't need it. Having said that, I'm unbelievably excited about Skyward Sword coming out and will be getting it shipped over from the UK asap! 1 month tomorrow! Get in!
I actually just got a used Wii to get this game and a few others.
Also gotta agree with this. I first played Twilight Princess for my Gamecube, and thought it was fantastic. Then, somewhere in the process of my roommate moving out, the copy disappeared. So when I picked up a Wii for my ex, I bought Twilight Princess for the Wii and decided to play through it again.
I didn't enjoy it as much. It's not like you were really doing anything with the Wii-mote to really justify its use. You just kind of... shook it a bit to make Link swing his sword. Definitely not necessary -- the game would have felt so much smoother if you just attacked with the A button or a trigger or something. I understand Nintendo wanting to promote every aspect of its system in every first-party game possible, but c'mon...
Hopefully Skyward Sword feels a little bit more fluid in that aspect. It'll be quite a while before I get the chance to play it, though, which I'm kind of disappointed about. But I just can't afford a Wii at the moment, and with so many excellent games coming out this fall that I want to play (Dark Souls, Uncharted 3, Ico/Shadow rerelease, Arkham City...) I just can't see myself finding enough spare cash to justify such a large purchase.
Here's hoping it is really good, though. It looks simply amazing. Even if his pants look weird.
Link is left handed.
Since the first games, Link has always been left handed. On the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess, he is left handed. As in, swings his sword with his left hand. When they translate that to the Wii, and the vast majority of people are right handed, they thought it would feel weird to swing your right hand to make the sword in his left hand move. So they just horizontally flipped everything.
Trust me, it fucked me up for the longest time when I started playing the Wii version.![]()
So what you're angry about is that the developers tried to stick to the originals with the lefthanded gamecube version but didn't stick with it on the wii version. Because yeah, swinging with the right and a left arm moving just really makes the gameplay imersive. < /sarcasm >
I'm not saying the gameplay was that imersive with the corrected motion controls, but it wouldn't have helped if they didn't flip the graphics.
The major reason for the wii rerelease was simply because most people (Im not talking about the average decent gamer aka anyone who visits these forums) didn't have a GC anymore but was planning on buying a wii. GC was at the same point where the wii is now before the wii U. Everybody is ready to start the funeral but then the console gets just those few swansong titles to make it's death come too soon.
btw what percentage of the buyers of the GC version actualy bought the WII version too? seems a bit silly to buy and play the same game for two different consoles if you already know the differences. (if you didn't know them you should really try this link, it works miracles: http://tinyurl.com/1c2)![]()
