How much do you pay per month with them. Kinda tempted if they're not too spendy. With shitty cricket right now, kinda want to switch soon.

Seriously, I want an Android phone so badly it hurts. I don't want to pay for data though. I understand that that's how they make their money up for subsidizing the phones, but I don't want it.
I am perfectly willing to buy a phone outside of the contract, but they'll still make me pay for the data for it. I don't get it.

They have different plans for different uses. If it's just you, it would be pretty cheap. I have the family plan and 5 phones and 3 data plans, so you really don't want to know what I pay if you are price shopping

Yeah with lowest voice and data(2GB) plan w/ unlimited text. It'll be a little less than $90. I dunno if I want to spend that much every month. Not with the shitty job I have currently. I guess I'll stick with Cricket for now.

Yet for some reason, I am hesitant to boot them up, and have some strange anxiety about it.

Is a complete waste of time, and money.

It's expensive, but once you have it, you find there are a lot of uses for data access with a smartphone. Accessing the Internet on a regular phone is nearly impossible, I've tried. But with Android (as an example) I can do pretty much anything I do on my computer anywhere I happen to be.
