    Default GenGaming forum restrictions

So I've been away for a while, and upon my return I've noticed that many more game topics on the general gaming discussions have become taboo and not allowed as thread topics. Last time I visited no "favorite" threads were allowed which I was on board with. Now there are even more topics banned, such as "most under appreciated" "worst", etc. which generaly strike me as the same as "favorite" threads, so I guess I'm on board w/ that too.

But I must raise the question: If we're going to be so strict on the titles and topics of threads, should we not be equally strict on the types of avatars or names people use. For instance, without calling anyone out directly, there are those who use nazi "flare" as avatars and sigs and those who have names that insinuate a person (primarily women) being forced against their will.

I respect Cookie as I've often agreed w/ his views in the past and find that when he steps in and shuts someone down it is more than warranted, so I dont mean to rouse a rabble, but as I said, the question had to be raised.

This is more of a suggestion than a "General Gaming" thread.

Raype's name, who cares. It's a play on words. He isn't really a rapist and we all know this.

And if you're offended by someone's Nazi avatar, there's always adblock.

When we receive reports similar to the ones you mentioned, the staff debates and decides what to do. If something is considered offensive according to the rules we ask our members to correct it or we do it ourselves, but we aren't here to censor everything and we understand that sometimes, there's a clear animus iocandi in what some of our members post or show in their signatures, avatars or even in their own nicks.
As for the threads closed in General Gaming, it's something we aren't going to be doing forever, and sometimes it just depends on the way the original poster presents the topic.

It means jokingly, without malice, and it is, indeed, a latin expression.

On the point of the name and sigs, i'd agree with cookie. I mean, i use curse words all the time and such, but thats only because people here are nice, and they know i'm joking.
If someone isn't joking about something he says, we'd probably find out by the way he uses the words. Anyway, that's up to the managers to decide (are they managers? or GMs? what was that again?).
I mean, there's a huge diference between "F*** YA B*O*CH! " and "F*** you homeless adopted son of a b****", ya feel me?
For the horde, once, and for all.
