being specific about the please series makes a little more sense solely based on what was in the image, like if someone took a picture from digimon the movie that had willis in it, i would want them to specify the movie since wilice is ONLY in the movie

I wouldn't. I don't know that. I only know "Oh, that looks like something that could possibly be Digimon based on the art style and the glorified Tamagotchi." It takes considerably more in-depth knowledge to know which specific iteration it is than with games, since you can guesstimate the platform/age based on the graphics, then guesstimate the genre based on the subjects or the UI. Not to mention most game characters are a bit more unique than generic shounen hero a.
