Indeed. That article, and the DC - PS2 comparison article, make some excellent points about hype causing misconceptions about hardware differences.

oh i heard that my gf's mom might have a nes in there attic complete with like 20 games (Ice Climber, Mario's, duck hunt, metroid, dr mario ect ect) 2 controllers and a zapper, if they remember right all it needs is the cart connector sorted since its one of those standard ones not a top loader a common issue with nes consoles i hear.

Think it worth trying to nab and restore? its all in original boxes n shit as far as they remember

    But CC invented chiptunes.
Yeah I never realised until someone told me years later. I always had the old brown C64 at my home and the later cream coloured one at my granddad's so I never thought to compare them side by side.

Some people prefer the earlier SID, but I guess it depends on the game and of course which chip the composer was writing with.

I like most Sega consoles, to be honest. About the only one that's actually really rubbish is the 32x. Every other one has a pretty decent amount of nice games~ Of course my opinion on things like the Game Gear and Mega CD is probably somewhat positively influenced by the fact that I enjoyed them through friends and emulation, and didn't buy them full price back in the day. :'D

Agree completely, especially for fighters. I actually think the 3D Nights controller was better than the Dreamcast controller too.
