Exclamation So, it looks like Sony is releasing something to try and slow down the 3DS

So, it looks like Sony is releasing something to try and slow down the 3DS's run away sales for the holiday season. Its the PSP....yeah, a new PSP model...without online capabilities...

Sony confirmed to IGN this new PSP will be released in Europe only.

During its Gamescom press conference, Sony talked a whole bunch about the PlayStation Vita, and then announced a new PSP model. This one will be compatible with the entire PSP catalog but not have a Wi-Fi option. It'll cost 99 Euros. No word on an international release.

    Behold!
    Behold!
IGN's Colin Moriarty was at the conference and reacted to the news this way: "Well, that's... something."
This is such a dumb attempt. Its just sad.

This is possibly the worst generation of console gaming.

scary thing is at that price its attractive to me, my PSP1000's UMD Drive is getting a bit clicky and the hold position is worn out, so if it has a umd drive i could consider it

That's how you do it, $ony... remove choice features from new models, while offering a small reduction in price. Hey, did anybody miss the HDD bay in the slim PS2? Or the "OtherOS" option on the PS3? Hell... who's gonna miss Wi-Fi on a PSP? That's what they think, anyhow...

I actually think the WiFi was pretty useless on the PSP. I mean with its lack of touch screen it wasn't decent for browsing the internet on. The online I've never tried, but I'm guessing it's shitty.

They've already tried removing the UMD drive and the PSP Go was a flop, so obviously the only other thing to remove is the WiFi. They can't really remove the screen or speakers, although I'm sure they'd love to.

I was tempted to buy a 3000 with a broken screen since it has AV out.

it might be an Idea to release a firmware update for the ps3 with ps2 functionality put back in instead of wasting time trying to knock nintendo off that pedestal that they have glued themselves to in the handheld market.
