    Didn't know that.

So if you're using the clutch which you have to full push in and the brake which you lightly tap it you can see why people don't like switching.

Well left foot braking is mainly a rally technique, for when you need to slow down a little or speed up a little. Obviously you can't change gear whilst both feed are on the throttle/brake.

You can change gear without using the clutch if you have the RPM in exactly the right place. (Truckers technique).

Obviously not gonna get taught shit like this from a driving instructor.

It doesn't sound like something I'd ever want to do.

The clutch is there for a reason.

You can destroy the gears if you don't use the clutch.

Ugh. He should have his license revoked for wrecking such an awesome car.

I've tried using melatonin to help regulate my sleep schedule, and I've tried OTC sleep aid pills, but I never thought of Tylenol PM. I've also heard Gravol helps, but again... haven't tried.

Pretty much everything in this post sounds like it came from my own life.
'cept for the "insomnia until started working full time." I still have trouble sleeping no matter how much I work.
I remember loving how the Tylenol PM worked, and then when I was in college my roommate stole it off of me and it seemed to work wonders for her, too. But I react to substances relatively easily, so maybe I just had a low tolerance level?

I finally got over the insomnia because I was working bizarre night shifts at a hotel and then having a six hour break before taking the morning shift over weekends, and I had to stand and run around the whole time - no sitting allowed and I would skip lunch for more money. It was all a mess. It got to the point where they'd just let me crash in a room between shifts otherwise I'd waste valuable sleeping time driving home and back. I actually trained myself to fall asleep as fast as possible to get as much rest as I could.

I was constantly so exhausted that I would sometimes fall asleep mid-conversation with people. Never in the middle of my own sentences, but I was terrible company for a while.

Yeah, I have heard Benadryl is good for knocking you out for the night, too. I wouldn't try any of these for the first time while your son is over, of course

    FUCK.
Actually, don't try to stop yourself from thinking, it'll just stress you more. If you're not wanting to do pills or anything, try some meditation techniques. Think of a symbol you find particularly pleasing and trace the outline/contours of it with your mind repeatedly. It's not so much about emptying your mind as it is focusing it to the point of lulling yourself to sleep. It sounds like you're so worried about sleeping that you're waking yourself up to see if you've slept. I do that before traveling. Another thing you could try is look into lucid dreaming. There are tons of meditation techniques for that and they put me to sleep like nothing else.

I drive a manual and you know way more than I do. Good luck getting the job and the car!
