I was always under the impression that as long as no links were posted it was fine, especially considering that torrent files have been saved as attachments before. Probably best not to names specific names though, you're right.

Infraction points for off-site linking and PC games after being warned against it, iirc. And although your point is valid, not everything on those sites infringes copyright. But yes, it probably shouldn't have been brought up.
