That would be a huge problem for me too.I'm glad to hear it's going well. The images look awesome. Where do you get your supply of games for the store from? A distributor or is it mostly trade-ins? I know you have a huge game collection but after seeing pics of it, I can't imagine you'd sell anything of yours (and I wouldn't either, if I was you).

Distributor initially, then trade-ins keep it going. There isn't much profit in doing custom orders either from what I understand. Well it depends how the individual store does it, but if they jack up prices over online prices then there is no point.
For start up, I got really lucky. 2 guys I knew (actually one girl) were selling off they're entire collections, and I got them for cheap. That was about 1500 games right there.
The rest was rummaging through crappy eBay lots, going to thrift stores in black markets (which actually got me a lot of stuff), and general crapiness. But now that I'm open, unless my stock goes way under, it's all trade-ins. Some random moms have some really good stuff once they clean out their attics.
Once I get more money, I am planning on hiring maybe a guy or two to run around the area and look through said thrift stores, because you just get some great stuff from there. Like I got Shining Force III, Dragon Force, Albert Odyssey, and some other RPG for the Saturn, all for $2 each. And now they're sitting in my display case with some good price stickers on them.I even found a ridiculously rare NES game called Panic Restaurant which sells for about $200. I sold it on OPENING DAY for $180.

Thrift stores are some dope shit man. I make some extra money through them and garage/yard sales.

I've gotten the impression there's someone else who works in the store here on the forums, is that you? That's pretty awesome, if so![]()
I never even thought of going to a store for a custom order, that's interesting. I could see how that'd be difficult to profit from - or even encourage people to use instead of going on the internet.![]()
Nope, I'm just knowledgable (somewhat) about this kind of stuff.
Word. Do you even bother with ordering stuff for people?Originally Posted by quiji
From my experience the price of distributors is hit or miss compared to just getting it off ebay, but I always probe a couple local stores when I can before ordering anything rare.
Now thinking I'm completely off-base about another CiB store-owner being on here. I get lost so easily
That's really awesome haha. Sounds like all of this would be a lot of fun, even if rather stressful sometimes. It also makes me want to take a peek into thrift stores in my own area.![]()
My friend's mom just went through all his old stuff and apparently found a couple good condition rpgs, I have no clue which ones. He keeps saying he's going to take them in, but they'll probably just go in another box for several more years![]()
