When OnLive goes live in Europe in the Fall of 2011, they will have a place to store their servers. In a press release today, OnLive, announced that they will be using the Luxconnect S.A. data center in Bettembourg, Luxembourg to house the servers that make their cloud gaming system work.
It wasn’t easy to determine where the servers would be housed, in order to cover as much of Europe as possible.
OnLive VP of Operations, Charlie Jablonski, explained:
“When we first looked at expanding to Europe, we knew it would be key to be located centrally in order to minimize latency and cost. When comparing both the technological aspects and the business environment in European candidate countries, we rapidly came to the conclusion that Luxembourg made the most sense, in the short- and the long-term.”
The OnLive service has been available in the United States for over a year now, and has begun to gain the attention of video game players all over the world. While no date has been set, the service is scheduled to launch in Europe in the Fall of 2011. After that, the service will gradually expand elsewhere.
