I'm just concerned with the controller. If it has a screen in it, it's gonna be pretty expensive and what happens if I drop it on the floor. It just seems to me like a pretty pointless addition. Knowing Nintendo hopefully they'll be able to pull it off.

A touch-screen by itself isn't going to be that expensive. It'll bring the price up on the controller another notch, but not by nearly as much as some seem to think. You also shouldn't be dropping your controllers - and even if you're worried about some freak accident occurring.. there's evidence of wrist-straps being used on this thing. So it should technically be impossible to drop while actually using it.

lol i dont no what to think. Nintendo is always bringing out something new and people are always shocked and say "this is too weird! not gonna work!" but... curiosity gets the best of us all and we'll all buy one =P

i think it'll be as successful as the first Wii. without a doubt. people call PS3 and 360 a "hardcore" console but i usually see 13 year-olds raging on Nintendo and praising their PS3 graphics. long time gamers like myself will always be with Nintendo, at least they're main focus has never been "best graphics" but "best entertainment" which is what a gamer SHOULD want. so it might seem like a lot of Wii games are children games, that's not entirely Nintendo's fault, it's the 3rd-party companies that decided their kiddie games would do better on the Wii (which has the most sales) than any other "hardcore" cosole.

I understand your meaning, but that has not always been the case. Back when the N64 came out, Nintendo really advertised about it being the most powerful system with 64-bit graphics. You also see that a lot of the games have 64 in the title to put further emphasis on this. Even when the SNES was new, if you look at the advertisements for it they mention number of colors on the screen at one time as well as the controller response time. After the N64 era I feel they started to get gimmicky. I had several of my friends say that the NGC was superior because of the small size of the console compared to the PS2 and the Xbox. This all came from advertisements showing the small size of the "cube."

Back on another note. I feel that the Wii U has more horsepower than the Xbox360 and the PS3. It is only natural that a console coming out between five and six years afterwards would have a bit more power under its belt. Whoever commented that it is running two 1080p video streams, that isn't entirely accurate. I saw on the Kotaku blog earlier that another website took high resolution pictures of the controller and did a pixel count of around 854x480 which is less than a quarter of 1080p resolution.

Another thing that Nintendo has to worry about, and Sony must try to capitalize on is the fact that with the PS3 connectivity offered by the PSVita, developers have shown that many if not all of the Wii U functions are capable with a PS3 and PSVita. If developers, especially Sony, try to capitalize on this they will start to take away from Nintendo's "new" factor. It would be especially beneficial from Sony if they could get it working with multiple PSVita's since Nintendo has already said that the Wii U is designed to only work with one screen at a time.

Nintendo says they are looking into more than just one U now.

I'm easily more excited about this than I was when the Wii was announced. I feel like this is what the Wii should've been, sort of like how Windows 7 feels like what Vista should've been. I'm hoping the specs will really open up 3rd party support and do Nintendo a well needed favor. Also, the drawing capability makes me want to get back into art all over again. Here's hoping for Mario Paint 2.
