They call it an "experience" since they dont like the term tech demo.
Wonder if this will turn out to be the FF7 tech demo for the PS3, something that shows of the tech and is not actually a game. Right now though, there is no Zelda game in works for the Wii U, according to Nintendo themselves anyway.

I sure hope they do a Zelda with those style graphics. Then I'm in.

Right now, other companies are remastering games to HD. Like Konami, Capcom, Sony, etc. Games like Metal Gear, Silent Hill 2 & 3, Resident Evil CV & 4, God of War 'Collection', are all going to be HD. I hope Nintendo will put some of their games in HD to the new console too. There were some rumors that Donkey Kong Country Returns is going to the "Wii 2" a couple of months ago. N64 games are perfect choices for remakes.

I watched the entire 3DS / Wii U E3 demo. I actually found it fairly impressive. Albeit just another add-on for a system, I think it a fairly neat one. It does do a lot of cool stuff, and if people will buy it, then more power to them. Sure it's just another sales gimmick, but what isn't? I have to commend Nintendo on their latest addition to the family.

*Edit* Just thinking to myself a minute ago.... When I was a kid, Nintendo was solely based on a younger audience. My parents had no idea and still don't understand the concept of playing video games. Some argue that they aim too much at a younger audience, but that is how they made their original bucks. So I suppose they may continue aiming at a younger audience that is much overlooked by the other large companies such as Microsoft and Sony. Again, just a thought that was rolling around in my head. If I had the cash, I would buy some of those "falling" stocks right about now.

The console itself looks even more halfassed compared to the Wii, basically looking like a white portable disc drive. I mean, some minimalism is good, but when your controllers are 5 times the size of the system, you have a problem.

I think this thing will fall pretty quickly, like the 3DS. They're trying too hard to keep the same idea alive, and it will be an expensive console to experiment with. I guess the controller in a way is better, since it has 2 analog sticks, some buttons, shoulder buttons and triggers, but I can't imagine it being anymore powerful than a PS3. In fact, it wont be. They're relying too much on gimmicks and not about the games themselves... but that's just me.

EDIT: Also, naming it the Wii U is just confusing, it will smaash their sales. At least call it the Wii 2 at least, but the Wii U just sounds like an extension to the console, or so special version of it...
Yeah at least it's not another wii-mote clone or Kinect clone. Jeez they're moving in a direction you could at least give them that. And for the love of GOD it has buttons and no arm flailing crap to play a damn game.

Woah, didn't mean to insult your religion or something.

And yes, the fact that I said "I guess the controller in a way is better, since it has 2 analog sticks, some buttons, shoulder buttons and triggers" means the controller has some positives if you can read. But whatever. IHATEZNINTENDOSTROLOLOLO

    A few things concern me

    1. price
Nintendo said they are going to competitively price this, with the ps3 & 360, so i expect it from $400 - $600

    2. Online
Nintendo said its always going to be online, but have said, there is going to be no psn/live with it. However, Ubisoft said that their game, ghost recon will have an online account, so it might be up to the devs if there is on isn't going to be one.

    3. horse power
will this be obsolete when the ps4 & xbox 3 come out?

I'm sure Nintendo will do some cool stuff with the controller, but i doubt 3rd party devs will. i'd say it will be maps or stats that will be shown the most which is fine.

It sucks they more or less just teased us about it. like a hot stripper about to take off her top, but she dooesn't.

Alien Freaks, IIRC, has great CGI stuff, and the aliens look like rabbids, lol, and people are also amped for Ghost Recon, but other than that everything is under wraps.

    i wonder about the name...Nintendo Wii U(bisoft)...

maybe we'll see more at the TGS

well u know the systems cpu and sku is going to be great jus bcuz its running both the controller and tv in 1080p hd and if u watched the press conference all the 3rd party producers that they showed jus talkin bout how powerful the system is and inovative the controller is u cant help but 2 think nintendo is back on the right track.plus there games from 3rd partys wont be ported over xbox360 games, they said they're programing those titles that are multi-platform directly 4 the wii-u just to take advantage of the systems power and controller. so i cnt wait 4 pax at the end of the year just to see what they come up with

I think it's pretty much fine. With the updated specs, the Big Three will be able to share great franchises. Hopefully this will mean more companies will show more 3rd party support so there's a better chance to see something crazy with the controller. Of course, this'll mean a lot of lazy ports, and since the shovelware is so bad already, I really hope their marketplace has a significant overhaul. I honestly haven't bought a Nintendo system since the DS Lite, and I haven't felt a need to yet. I still don't, but hopefully there'll be something significant and compelling reasons to do so once devs shows of their stuff.

Nintendo never really wowed anyone with specs, ever. It was the games and creative that sold the system, not the power. That's how Nintendo has always been, and always will be. It just shows that fancy shiny specs dont always sell the product.

I agree with the statement on N64 remakes for Wii U, but from the video I saw, Nintendo seems to be ready to put more of those on the DS/3DS instead, but that's fine by me, I always wanted a portable N64.
