I just got so damned bored. All that time running in a line to get to chapter 11 where things open up. Almost all of the battles followed the same routine. Bleh, I was not impressed. Didn't even finish the game, couldn't be arsed. Paid 30 to get it a couple of weeks ago and sold it for 10. Funny though, 6 and 12 are prolly my faves as well.

I thought it was a decent game myself. Really gorgeous graphics, and a relatively mature cast of characters. Admittedly two-thirds of the game play out more like an interactive movie than anything else, but I also liked Xenosaga for similar reasons, so eh.. Plot I thought was interesting too, not incredible or epic - but interesting. At the core the combat system was what I really enjoyed though, and toward the end of the game it's a lot of fun killing the optional bosses and what not, in my opinion at least.

I don't know, just haven't been able to really get into anything lately. Hope I'm not outgrowing vidja games.

Yeah it was stunning when I first put it in, and the combat system was kinda neat but all that wore off for me pretty quickly. Just seems like a couple of steps backwards and reminded me of 10 which I think is still better. Hopefully this means the next one will follow suit and be on an epic proportion as 12 was.

Admittedly I didn't see much aside from a boss fight or two and a few of the beginning chapters. That seems to be the main complaint I hear about the game though, the linearity and the slow buildup in the beginning. The combat system seemed interesting though, and I'm always a fan of optional side quests in my RPGs.

The game does play as an interactive-movie up until Chapter 11 - there's very little to do except push forward, and in that respect it's an awful lot like FFX actually. Although it's not exactly a straight line, I think that's a bit of an exaggeration. There are actually numerous deviations you can take, they just almost always lead to an optional chest or something of the like. *shrugs* It was honestly the cast of characters that kept me playing up until that point.. Snow was annoying as all hell, but everyone else was actually pretty cool. And all the backstory you get in the datalog was neat to read.

Once the game actually did open up, though.. It actually reminded me a lot of XII. All the enemy hunts and bosses and what not.. And at that point combat also becomes increasingly more complex and interesting. Early on you admittedly don't have much you can do combat-wise, but end-game quite a few options arise and become necessary to beat certain encounters.

Glad to see someone else liked XII though.. that games gets too much hate.

It is really linear, but that's not always a bad thing. Plus the linearity and such makes sense in the context of the games story, which is something I so rarely see brought up. The characters really don't have the luxury of hanging around in plain sight for extended periods of time.. And actually, I can think of one example right now where the characters get punished for attempting to do just that.

Well at least it seems to serve a purpose then, rather than just being a bad/boring design choice. I'm sure I'll ending up buying it once I have money to waste on vidya games again. I feel almost obligated actually, since I got a promotion code for a baby chocobo avatar item when they announced they were releasing FFXIII for the 360 as well.

Crusher and Ktiger are also chillin' at like 2000+. (Crusher's at around 1700 or something actually.) KTiger is a fucking beast though.
