Actually, the doctor failed to treat me completely.. And in fact, he curiously left the country not too long after my continued treatments. I've heard through the grapevine that he did some questionable things with other patients too, but I don't know.. Ultimately I ended up needing to have major surgery, which.. well, sucked.

You never know, talking of horrible disfigurements and diseases might help me on my NCLEX exam. Nothing better than making anecdotal connections with all that textbook nonsense.

My medical opinion? Always use Morphine on patients in pain. Always.
I just wish I had another appendix to lose.

You know, as much of a hellish experience as that surgery was.. (And I could never emphasize how hellish it was, it was a serious operation and by all means horrific in every way.)
It doesn't bother me so much I had to go through that painful experience, as it does the numerous social issues it causes me now. If I never had that surgery, I would be so much better off than I am now. As it is it complicates relationships and scares a lot of people off.

And what ailment would one need to receive that? Just hypothetical of course.

This is actually more or less why I had the surgery I had, to avoid this from ever happening. My entire colon was removed though, it had to be because of the disease I had which had infected the entirety of it.

Severe pain. It's usually given IV, and ICU patients generally need to be weaned off of it when they come to the floor.

I've only seen morphine as an ordered med once or twice. But that's probably because I worked in a hospital that took more acute cases, some of the "stable" floor patients would probably be in ICU rooms in other hospitals.
