Very similar to my parents, then. Although my mother did complicate things for me a lot.. I would elaborate, but it's probably not worth going down that rabbit-hole here. Needless to say though, I would have grown up to be very different if I'd have had the same opportunities most kids have. Instead, I got what I got, which mostly sucked. And now? I've no qualms about the person I am, in principle.. But there's a lot about myself I would change if I could.

That's basically the only way you can look at it. There's nothing you can do about it now, but as long as you can take some sort of lesson out of it -- even if it's something like, "well, I know that fucked me up, so I'm going to avoid doing that to anyone, anywhere, ever." You learn from your parents either by following their example, or seeing what they did and doing the opposite.

Also. I realize that Drag and I can't have a conversation that doesn't evolve into life lessons.

Honestly, that doesn't bother me as much as parents that don't punish their kids. At all. I miss the days of the belt.

I kept fussing and he propped me over his knee right in the checkout and I never did it again.

Can't really agree with the belt, but I definitely agree with the discipline part. Especially when I hear stuff like, "I don't know where you get this from, but I'm sick of it!" Really, lady? Maybe if you stopped spoiling your kid rotten and letting him have everything that he wants whenever he starts to throw a tantrum, and actually laid down some rules and expectations, you wouldn't be in this predicament.

My mom used to take me and my brother shopping all the time. She had a pretty good rule -- if we were good for the entire shop, we each have a chocolate bar on the way out. If we were bad, she would spank us right there in the cereal aisle.

We had enough experience with spankings from my mom that we never risked it.

Indeed. Mine are obvious scars. It goes from about mid back to my upper thighs. Made one of my ex girlfriends cry the first time she saw me naked a long time ago.

I played the NES until we got a SNES and sometime later a PSX. My cousin had an N64 and we played a lot of Goldeneye.
Although I learned to read by playing Final Fantasy before I was in school.

And yeah I understand. I'll talk about every one my scars (which is a lot) if people give me the chance. I love war stories.
