Yeah I loved the original Shadowgate for NES. Nowadays it's harder for me to let go and just buy in to some game designer's vision, especially since newer stuff often seems rushed and sterile.

Shadowgate is soo much more forgiving than what this games came across as. Apparently the NES version was butchered by censors, so the mansion is no longer Crowley's.
Not saying that Shadowgate was a piece of cake though. I played that for days, until I finally broke down and found a strategy guide online.
