A ways into Tales of Symphonia. I started it up a little while back while messing with PS2 HDD-ish stuff, and somehow got sucked in. I think I'm nearing where the disc swap would be in the Gamecube one, and I'm starting to get into unfamiliar territory. I played a chunk of it back in the day, but I never finished it because my Japanese was rubbish, and because I didn't have access to the English Gamecube version, so it's simultaneously familiar and new to me. It's a bit basic having played some of the later installments in the series first, but it's still quite fun, and the characters and story are plenty endearing in a JRPG archetype-y way.

It's... a lot of fun, so far. The controls take a little bit of getting used to, but not as bad as some games.

I used War's basic sword most of the time, and occasionally the scythe. Never really needed the gauntlet.

Same goes for skills. Max out Blade Geyser as soon as you can, buy a level or two for Stoneskin and you're pretty much good to go for the entire game.

Keep in mind, though, that this applies to normal difficulty only.

Even on apocalyptic, with a certain gear, Stoneskin can make you almost invincible, it can be really useful later on and the final boss is a joke if both are used combined . I wouldn't say it's a hard game but it doesn't need it, it's a really fun to play game.
I should really start coming back to this thread after I post in it, to see if anyone has actually commented on the game that I'm playing.

I am slowly getting used to the controls. I haven't played all weekend (family visiting and whatnot), but it took me a long time to realize just how useful Blade Geyser really was. I don't think I really started using it at all until all of the little trials to get rid of the shadow gates or whatever to move the Titan to go to the second dungeon. Which is a damn shame, 'cause it would have made earlier parts of the game a lot easier.

I rarely use anything beyond War's original blade, although I did find a few of them a bit easier using the gauntlet (pin them in a corner, punch the shit out of them until they fall down, then hack-n-slash until they get up. Repeat), but I can't say I've used the scythe too much as it is. Also, the gun that you get when you clear the second dungeon is... pretty freaking useless, so far. I think I used it to take out a few zombies, and that's about it. Although I do plan on upgrading everything just to get some of the trophies. And because I always like to buy everything that I can.

I am on my way to the third dungeon. I'll probably play a little bit more later tonight, after I have a couple of snacks and read a bit more of my book. I have to admit, though -- even if I don't use half of the moves that I know, and basically kill everything with the same one-two-three combos, it's still a helluva lot of fun. I'm very pleased with my purchase, and may actually go out of my way to make this my first platinum.

Glad to see you are enjoying it

The scythe is good to control crowds and it can get you more souls even if it isn't too harmful. I didn't use it or the gauntlet too much and when I did it is cos I knew that I'd have to fully upgrade them at some point.

Just recently started shadow hearts: the new world, this is the first game i have played, and am really liking it, i want to get the first two now. The humor is my favorite part of the game so far, only a couple hours in though.

Been playing a little eXceed2nd-VAMPIRE REX-. Still need to adjust to its Ikaruga-style gameplay after playing so much of eXceed3rd.
