They certainly aren't always bad, but they aren't always good either. Which is why I'm in favor of this sort of thing. When people are aware of what the government is doing it's a lot easier to keep them in line. They do exist to represent the people, after all. If they aren't doing their job in a way that the people support, they deserve whatever happens.What you're saying all makes sense, and I'll admit I came off heavy-handed on the "governments aren't always bad" bit. But he still needs to take responsibility for the fact that he took classified documents and put them in the public eye. Good intentions or not, it's a crime.

True enough, but that's for the courts to decide. And considering the circumstances of this whole ordeal I have doubts he's going to be receiving a fair trial.
