Like someone else mentioned though, pirating a genuinely good game from a small developer or a developer you support (Say something like Minecraft or a game that was localized) makes me feel incredibly guilty, as indie games don't have huge corporations backing their development and bad sales of localized games might prevent further games from coming over, which is no good.
True, would make me feel guilty too if it was a small developer, but the big companies just deserve it, 60€ and more for a game is just a rip-off (no matter how good it's "supposed" to be)

Same as above, I would feel only guilty for Indie bands, but not for the record labels or so-called artists who make millions of $$$, but whose music is pretty much generic shit with no hint of originality.

Don' worry, it won't hurt... that much!

    Thumbs up Nope...

I sooooo do not feel guilty about downloading a game (old and new)

    Here's why:
    1) Convenience: Damnnit it plays just as well as the original, buying it would be a waste of money for me!

    2) $$$$$$$$$$$: I am a broke as college student living with the folks. I do not want most of my expenses to go toward video games and whatnot...

2.5) Here's a breakdown of all some of the games I have downloaded and how much they would have cost:
    Pokemon Black: 39.99
    Pokemon Platinum: 34.99
    Puyo Pop Fever: 19.99
    Plants Vs. Zombies: 19.99
Mario Kart DS: probably still 34.99
    Beatmania IIDX games (3 - 16 EMPRESS): $60 - $70 each
    DDR PS1 & 2 games (Imported from Japan): $60 - $70 each
    and so on...

Imagine paying for all this while getting paid dirt part-time while going to school full-time. All this might cost me around 300-400.

    3) Some of the games I want are expensive as f*** and some games today are just overpriced.

    4) Who cares about the cover art of the box?!?! That thing is going to collect dust anyways so who gives a f***?

    5) Some of the fallacies that people justify for supporting a game company is just overexaggerated (e.g. if you don't support X company, they'll go out of business) and would have to take every single person (yes, 100%) to do in order for certain overexaggerated claims to happen.

    There... My rant. NOT GUILTY!

Oh yeah... One of the best reasons why I do not buy games that much.

did i feel bad when i downloaded final fantasy x international? lets see getting a japanese ps2 over 100 dollars, getting the game itself over 50 dollars, downloading the iso from here that may have the valfore glitch: pricless lol. i never really cared about the psp games anymore and i got the ds since it has some more retro games on it and some better puzzle games. also, some of my favorite games on the ps2 sound alot better in japanese! *coughstarocean3cough* that way i dont get annoying high squeaky voices which reminds me, i want a ps3 so i can have the international version of star ocean 4 since sarahs voice annoys the shit out of me.

Yes, always...I punch my self over and over every time I download one, which is why I'm unrecognisable from 3 years ago. Its the most unforgivable thing Ive ever done. I really need to re-evaluate my life...I'm such a shitbag...dammit I knew emulation was going to be the end of my morality and self worth...what was I thinking???

Never, because I mostly only ever download "out of print" games anyway.
When it comes to retro-gaming, I don't have so-called "morals" or "standards" like a certain someone on Screwattack.com ( >cough, cough< Stuttering Craig >cough< ) who really just wants to show off his wealth.
I don't hate the guy (he's actually quite humorous), I just think his view on emulation is a little misled.

Indeed...thats pretty much the only time I ever buy PC games...Small developers do create good stuffs sometimes, and this ones really do need support. buying their games make em happy and confident enough to make other great games... Downloading pirate copies from these small developers could make em shut down their business, therefore possibly shutting down future projects, future great games....

But the BIG developers? fudge em...I mean, they rip-off everyone with their overpriced stuffs, and dont freakin care about it... Plus they re-release the same stuffs over and over again, with small changes, but it cost almost twice the price of the older...

mmm... I'd say I used to feel guilty before... but nowaday, music is pretty much ALL about money... music used to be good, used to be something singers did because thats what they liked to do, music was their life... Singers loved their fans, loved the message and emotions they could pass on with their songs.

Most singers today, just care for popularity and fame and money. Thats why almost every music from today suck out loud.

PS. Of course their are many artists who are great, and are not like that.... And this ones have my full support, just like the small game developers

I download any game I want. I could care less if it just came out, or what game developer released it. I can barely afford everyday essentials, so there is no way in hell I'm paying for games. The last game I actually paid for ($10) was Morrowind from a discount software store online. I don't even play video games that much anymore, so I'm definitely not going to pay for them. Contrary to what the game companies say, pirating their games is not going to put them out of business, they will still make an enormous profit if the game is good (or sometimes even if its crap).

Guilt, like jealousy, is a very base, secondary emotion, and I want no part of it.

I'm fine with people emulating games, but if you do have extra money (most people claim they don't but cutting out all the coffee people drink in a month (or whatever else you buy 5 times a week that isn't essential to being alive) would save hundreds, maybe thousands a year for some people). I myself would like to download ps1 games until I can afford a ps3 and playstation network, but am on a dialup connection because my parents are too cheap and I won't be able to move out until I have a job and decent income. And for the people downloading any game they want, some internet companies charge you extra if you use up too much bandwidth a month, and if you have an uncapped connection, you should be watching youtube or playing flash games whenever you have the time and save money for new games. And about the music, there are some singers/artists/musicians that want to care for the fans, but the people they're working for put them on a schedule and make them make money instead of working on making awesome music.

So in short, people should rather throw their money at some rich companies who heavily overcharge their products rather than buy things that might be considered "not essential to being alive", but are as well enjoyable/wanted by people... smart logic, dude (nothing personal)

Seriously, am downloading a lot (not only games, but as well anime, manga, hentai, music, movies) and my internet company charges no extra (if yours does, just switch... or deal with it)

Why should anyone limit oneself to youtube and (mostly) crappy flash games, just to shove more money up the ass of some rich companies???
If it were a small developer, I could understand, but honestly... I don't get your point here.

On a side note: do I smell some jealousy towards people with uncapped internet?

Don' worry, it won't hurt... that much!
