I'm interested in the competition that's being run for the 3DS, very cool, just think of emuparadise filling up with all that information! But there's something that I think needs to be sorted out.

To reiterate what Nakanakajo stated on page 8 of this thread, a few of us are a little disappointed that a fellow user 'Pontinho' has only reverted back to the high-school strategy of copy & pasting other peoples comments. I've noticed his writing style alternates considerably between professional english (strong use of punctuation and grammar) and suddenly falling back to slang terms in considerable use (yay/cool/boring/etc.) But more importantly the reason he has been able to write reviews effortlessly, is because this isn't his language and aren't his own reviews. I'd hate to complain but it doesn't exactly show equal fairness when generally all the reviews are stolen from elseware. As Nakanakajo found, Pontinho would fuse portions of professional gaming reviews and comments accompanying reviews to create a quick one-minute effort:

For Mortal Kombat Deception (The name suits the situation well) Ponti wrote: "This game is almost perfect: the addition of "breaker" system, "death traps", 2 fatalities and 1 Hara Kiri per character and interactive arenas makes fighting more strategic, realistic and fun. Chess and Puzzle kombat modes are nice surprises. The only big mistake of the game is the Konquest Mode." The only part he didn't steal as you can see from this link here: http://www.metacritic.org/games/plat...ombatdeception is the final words "despite this flaw, the game is GREAT!"

As well as Naka's examples on page 8, just about every review of Ponti's I have read constitutes he's delved into professional reviews and copied/pasted, here is an example where he has grabbed half the official IGN review of Digimon Rumble Arena 2, IGN wrote: "Smash Bros. enthusiasts will detest this one for it's failure to paint Nintendo mainstays all over its title. It also doesn't offer the maddening kind of simplistic complexity only Melee can. But, this isn't to seriously discredit the game, or Bandai..." Ponti grabbed the review up until "Melee can" (I'll provide links as evidence below) The first portion of Ponti's Rumble Arena also features a direct piece pulled from the closing comments of the IGN review: "There's a certain degree of likeability about Rumble Arena 2. It has a charm all its own - a kind of clumsy quirkiness wrought with effort and clouded in branding"

There are so many examples of this user stealing other reviews, I'll have to list as many as I can find, here they are first links are the stolen reviews for emuparadise, second are the original reviews, many of these are word for word, some with words substituted:

Alright, I'm sorry I had to post this, but it just doesn't seem right to everyone else who has worked hard on their reviews, to actually be their own opinions. I feel I was speaking on behalf of everyone. Thanks again for baring with me, I couldn't find a spoiler button.

    Happy 11th Birthday Emuparadise!
Hey, thanks for all the kind words and of-course for shedding light on what's going on. We try our best to check reviews for authenticity but given the sheer volume of reviews we're receiving it gets a little difficult to go through every line or word being written. We're able to weed out reviews directly lifted from Wikipedia and things like that but when words are thrown into the mix, it gets a bit more challenging.

That said, once we do the 3DS draw, we shall definitely re-visit the winner's submissions to make SURE that he deserves to win. We didn't do that for the megaupload draws since those aren't a big deal (but I'm thinking of re-doing yesterday's draw now..) but we will definitely do that for the grand prize. So in short, submit with confidence, we'll make every effort to be 100% fair : )

I just hope it goes to someone who truly deserves it, Especially not anyone who posts that they deserve to win.

good idea, why not make a poll for the few who are in the Semi-Finals and everyone vote who should win?

That's a terrible idea. The entire concept of having a draw makes it fair for everyone by choosing a winner based on chance and probability. Voting will inevitably lead to a popularity contest.

The details and rules of the contest have already been decided. If anyone wants to increase their chances of winning, it's easy to do so.

I guess so, I just wanted someone who truly helped contribute to EP to win.

Sorry for making a bad suggestion.

I'm quite sure the 3DS will go to someone deserving. Those that've helped a lot all have a decent number of entries. And even if it goes to some virtually unknown newbie, he/she would've had to contribute to even have a single entry, so it's all good
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

Will do, thanks! Yeah I can imagine with a contest like this how many reviews EP might get per day... - I just hope I didn't slow down the checking process or anything for everyone. Anyway, good luck to everybody! Congratulations to those who won the Megaupload accounts.

P.S - You guys derserve all the credit we give you!

    Happy 11th Birthday Emuparadise!

I'm glad to know that there was someone who has same opinion with me
Even i can't win the 3DS, at least i hope the winner should be someone who follows the rules properly, in that way there wouldn't be any envious or rage for someone who doesn't belong the winner prize i think.
There's only 1 week left 'till Happy 11th Birthday Emuparadise! Uh-oh, i eagerly wait!

    Ok, I got another question...

My chances of winning are minimal, considering the numbers available, but consider I get a Mega Upload account... [I think there is still one to be given, right?]

I'm not the kind of person who would profit well of the account, considering my internet speed. Would it be possible to pass the chance and do another draw for the prize? I don't want to be greedy and keep the account for myself and waste it not being able to use :/

You could always share the account with others who might want to download a game or two. I considered doing it, cause I'm getting zero speed increase (free Megaupload maxes out my 3Mbit connection), but I'm using some of the other free features so it's handy to have

Other features? Like what, download resuming? I already get that with Jdownloader anyway XD

Well, Chances are small anyway, but if it ever happens, I'll see what I'll do.

I think one of the better benefits is >1 simultaneous download. Of-course you wouldn't want this if it's able to max out your connection but such is not the case for everyone. Also, another good one is that you can download files > 1GB. Good for our GCN mirrors, though I'm working on breaking up those files somehow now..
