From what I've read the timed button moves are pretty much essential later on. I'll be fine though, I've played the shit out of Lost Odyssey.

You do enough damage (from what i've played) that it's much more important to guard properly than to attack properly.

Also, because of the set animations for special moves, and the varying animations for enemy attacks, it's much easier to attack properly than defend properly.

Even with url's in the address bar I use F6 > Ctrl + C > Ctrl + T > Ctrl + Page Down > Ctrl V > Enter for maximum efficiency.
