Then the nurse and the doctor get to talk about how much they hate you.

Oh, I can only imagine. Thankfully my family is pretty sane and generally not too annoying, and we had a great doctor. He was one of the top... um, leg doctors in the state or something. Although it kind of sucked because he originally thought that my leg was only fractured in one spot, and then when he opened me up realized that it was totally shattered. Still, he did a great job. Although my right leg is a little bit crooked now.

I would guess he was an orthopaedic surgeon who happened to like legs a lot.

Imaging doesn't always do the tricks, there's a reason that "exploratory surgery" exists.
