Default Help running Final Fantasy please :(!!

    Hi guys,

I'm completely new to emulation and have never done this before so please be patient Basically, i'm trying to play Final Fantasy VIII. I've downloaded CD 1 from the following link: http://www.emuparadise.org/Sony_Play..._Fantasy_VIII_[NTSC-U]_[Disc1of4]/36904

On this page, i also downloaded the first emulator reccomended for Windows which is espx v 1.7. Ive configred the emulator and have the following plugins:

    Video: Pete's D3D Driver 1.77
    Sound: ePSXE SPU core 1.7.0
CDROM: ePSXE CDR WNT /W2K core 1.7.0
    Bios: SCPH7502.BIN

All of my plugins are tested and work. When i run the BIOS, i get the sony playstation screen load up fine but when i try to run final fantasy, i just get a black screen and nothing :/

I've tried running it on an earlier version of this emulator but had no luck
Really hope someone can help me with this.

    Thanks in advance guys.

what was the file extension of the game you downloaded? was it .ecm.bin? if so you need ECM tools to extract it all you do is click and drag the file you wish to extract over the "unecm" tool provided in the download

I've the same problem actually, although i've actually got the FF8 Discs and the ISO's to match them (in .MDF form). I'm running Windows 7 64-Bit, Intel Core i3 Mobile and integrated i3 graphics and the plugins i'm using are

    Video: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.7.7
    Audio: Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41
    BIOS: Scph1001 (Works fine)

Just as a side note, i also get this problem with Final Fantasy 7, i'd really like a solution, seeing as how FF8 is one of my all time favourites, so any help would be appreciated.

i think that psx1.13 is best for final fantasy

although i have 7,8, and 9 through psn, and i have 5 on disc, but to each his own, i really suggest you buy them on psn if you like them so much

use the latest version of ePSXe which is 1.7 or try 1.6 i recommend thoes two because i have beaten all of the aforementioned games using thoes emulators you can get them all off the main site

    @Nathan
is the file you are trying to run a .bin.ecm file? If so refer to the ECM Tools Guide
