Although it is definitely not scariest thing ever - if I ever described it like that, it was mostly due to the sheer enthusiasm caused by finding a horror game that can actually be really spooky and atmospheric. Especially nowadays, when the horror genre is pretty much just about gore and isn't really that scary at all (looking at you, Dead Space).

Agreed on the storytelling. Finally realizing why the protagonist is amnesiac and why he's being tormented by guilt was pretty cool.

Huh, I haven't read that story, actually, even though I'm pretty sure I've read about 90% of the stories in my Complete Works volume. I guess it was part of that 10%.

If you're ever in the mood for something similar, there's also Penumbra: Overture and Penumbra: Black Plague, the previous games of Frictional. But I'm pretty sure you already knew that.
My favorite thing was probably the first encounter with the water monster. Invisible monster with ominous splashes is definitely more frightening than those malformed humanoids, although I'm pretty sure that things resembling humans are supposed to be more disturbing to the human mind than any other sort of monster.

He probably could have made his life easier by getting his revenge and then becoming an amnesiac, but whatever, I suppose.

I read a quick summary of the Outsider on Wiki. It's not the same story but I can see how it could be one of many inspirations behind the game. I've got a complete works book as well, but I'm only about ten stories into it.

I don't know if I'll get to the Penumbra games any time soon, but I have duly noted them.

    Mass Effect 2...Wow.
It's easily in my top games list of all time, can't fucking wait for the third one. Only lost a team member, and for some reason now I feel like going back and play the first one again.

Finally finished Saya no Uta, that was some good shit, despite being seriously depressing at certain pats (o hai post-transformation Tsukuba), though that's to be expected from a game like this. As for what the wiki labels as Ending 2... very Lovecraftian. Very awesome.

Beat Bulletstorm's campaign a couple days ago. It was kinda short, not any shorter than most modern FPS campaigns though.

It was an extremely fun game though, I'm currently working on going through the time trial "Echoes" mode. Definitely recommend it to any fan of first person shooters.

Bleach: The 3rd Phantom for the DS.

Possibly the best Bleach game made, and the single best thing to come out of Bleach since it began.

Killzone 3. Short but sweet, and also extremely epic.

Completed F.E.A.R 2 a few hours ago. I don't like it as much as the first, but I can't wait until we get #3. I just recently bought a PS3 on Amazon, so I'm hoping I'll get to play through Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and a few other games I missed out on.

    Yeeeees!

    Spoiler warning:
But the final mission wasn't as good as the final mission in Killzone 2. The MAWLR setpieces were, however, absolutely amazing. Also... "welcome home Sir". Who do you think it is? I bet on Visari. Most likely he had a double in Killzone 2. I want KZ4!!!

    Just finished DMD! on DMC4.
Significantly easier than the other DMC games. Almost boring.

Killzone 2, I did want to finish this before Killzone 3 but it didn't happen. Still a great game.

X-MEN Arcade (PSN) 100%, very easy. Got the trophy I was hoping Cookie would help me with by accident in single player.

Just powered through the rest of DMC4 myself, though certainly not on the hardest setting.

    It was kind of...meh.

Persona 4 and 3 routes in Devil Survivor. God, I love the SMT series. So good.

I beat (unlocked everything) in Mario Sports Mix earlier last week. The game is A LOT more fun with 3 people playing.
