It might be nothing, just take things lightly, if you take things that personally, life isn't much fun.
People really tend to be paranoid because of that, just relax.
About the lengthy, better take care of problems sooner than later.
About the costly, well i can really judge that, since i dont know anything about your personal life.

Well, unless you want to go private or opt for specific treatments it doesn't cost anything over here because of the NHS. I'm guessing Illora's in the US though so it might be expensive for him if his insurance doesn't cover it. Unless the healthcare reforms have come into force yet over there? I can't say I've paid much attention to it recently...
Of course, if he does actually have cancer and has to pay for treatment, the longer he ignores the symptoms the more it will cost than if it had been diagnosed earlier. It's really in his best interests to get checked out as soon as he suspects something.
