Pretty much. Ivolt is planning on redoing it, but he's uber slow. So it's more or less just you now.

I plan on doing some more when I get home, but I lack the necessary tools to do any when I'm out here. Which kind of sucks, because it would have been a great way to kill some time on the weekends, and after classes and whatnot. Oh well. I'll come prepared next year.

That sounds amazing. I'd imagine it's akin to thick cut bacon except in even bigger chunks? Oh man, I love thick cut bacon, especially peppered. That and a bunch of sharp cheddar shredded up really fine. I'm surprised I'm not fat yet.

Kind of. When bacon is cut on a slicer, sometimes the side pork is just a little bit too wide for the slicer, or it's cut at a weird angle, or to make it fit in the packaging they have to take a little bit of the ends of. That's where you get bacon ends. They are really good, and a helluva lot cheaper when you're using bacon as an addition to a meal, like in wraps or salads or stir fry.

Pigs are actually pretty smart. I still don't care how smart an animal is though I'll still eat it, and I mean any animal. Ya ever heard of "long pork"?

Not entirely sure about naming procedures and stuff like that in the States, but "fresh side" up here would be "fresh side pork," which is essentially just bacon that hasn't been smoked or anything. When cooked properly, though, it's freaking delicious. Could be different down there, though.

I believe it's just fresh cut. If I remember correctly, it's very light in color.
It's been probably 25 years since I've had any.
