An Actual Crisis: Crysis 2 Leaked

I have no words. Actually, I have some words- according to a thread of the Facepunch forums (which may or may not be deleted any second depending how the Facepunch server holds up), a developer build of Crysis 2 containing the full game, multiplayer and the master key for the online authentication has been leaked, and is currently freely available from all sorts of astonishingly illegal websites. This sounds like it might be a serious tragedy for Crytek. Crysis 2 was scheduled for release on the 22nd of March, so the leaked build could be dangerously close to finished.



More than a month ahead of release. Singleplayer, multiplayer, online authentication key. Good grief. Makes me feel sorry for the gents at Crytek right now... but even more so for the person who did it, once they catch him.

Well if it doesn't suck, I'm sure a lot of people who pirate it now will buy it when it actually gets released. It's not the end of the world when a game gets leaked like this, no matter how much they want us to believe it.

It's probably worse than normal in this case though. The Crysis line is, and always has been, a glorified tech-demo for the company behind it. One which has historically been big on immediate wow-factor stuff and astonishingly short on length and actual gameplay.

Those tend to perform badly when the gloss has time to rub off before it's even being sold.

Have you actually played Crysis? The "it's just about the graphics" argument is one I hear all the time, but the game is surprisingly fun to play.

In any case, let's wait until sales before we start preaching the end of the world with this. I'm not gonna pirate it, but there are already YT vids on the net. The overall gameplay seems to be just as fun as its predecessor.

Crytek has been alerted that an early, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and playing the final, polished game on March 22.

Crysis 2 is still in development, and the team is hard at work on it and Crysis 2 promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion.
