curious what you guys' thoughts on this band are.
I used to be friends with the whole band back in high school, but since then the only remaining original member is the singer and I never much liked him.

Well, I figure I might as well post a couple of my favorite bands in here. Partially because I've been listening to music more regularly than I usually do, since there's not much else to do around here. And partially because I've been feeling nostalgic and going over my favorite albums.
Brand New - "Deja Entendu"
- Seriously, if you don't love this album, there is something wrong with you.
Pretty Girls Make Graves - "The New Romance"
- Female led indie alternative rock band. They broke up back in 2006 or 07 (can't remember exactly, but it was before I turned 19), but this is by far my favorite album by them.
Boys Night Out - "Make Yourself Sick" and "Trainwreck"
- Make Yourself Sick is a pretty straightforward, "hardcore" (and yes, the quotes are there for a reason, 'cause they aren't actually hardcore but it's the only appropriate adjective I can think of) punk rock. Some interesting topics, and addictive lyrics. A little bit of screaming, so if you don't like screaming then I don't recommend checking them out. Very catchy lines, and very well written songs. Their "Trainwreck" album remains in my Top 10 albums of all time. It tells the story of a man who suffers some sort of mental breakdown and kills his wife in his sleep, then chronicles his trip through a mental hospital, recovering, realizing what he has done, and eventually killing himself. Again, some amazing lyrics, and very well rounded album. However, stay away from their self-titled album, which was their latest release (back in 2008, I believe). It only has a couple of redeeming tracks on it, and overall was a disappointment.
There are three real driving forces behind thrash bands.
Guitar, Vocals, and Drums, generally in that order.
This band has vocals and drums, but their guitar is kind of boring on some songs.
Some of their songs are great though.
I mean, six songs isn't really comprehensive, but overall they are pretty good, nothing amazing though.
I'll Just give a list of my top picks (Excluding bands that are prolly already here or well known I.E. RHCP, Sublime) anyway,
Dragonette-http://www.last.fm/music/Dragonette
They're categorized as a combo of UK and Canadian synthpop but Funk Pop is a better description in my opinion.
Spiral Beach-http://www.last.fm/music/Spiral+Beach
This band is a nice combination of Indie Rock and Thrash.
The Sounds-http://www.last.fm/music/The+Sounds
They're a Synth Rock group from Sweden with an extremely good looking female lead
Tech N9ne-http://www.last.fm/music/Tech+N9ne
By far my favorite rapper. Though I don't listen to very many
Sahara Hotnights-http://www.last.fm/music/Sahara+Hotnights
They're an all female rock group from Sweden who've been on the circuit since 1991. I recommend their first 3 albums above their later 2.
The Vincent Black Shadow-http://www.myspace.com/tvbsofficial
This one is a Dark Cabaret from Vancouver, Canada.
Well' there you have it, a few of my favorites. I hope I didn't repeat any, sorry if I did.
What?! Porch Munky is Evolving!
The Replacements
Although no longer a band, they were one of the driving forces of early Alt rock.
Three Days Grace - They are a Hard rock band that's first studio album debuted in 2003 and their newest album is Called "Life starts Now" released in 2009 it isn't exactly new. But I love it.
Rise Against - They are a Punk Rock band and a freakin awesome one at that. Their newest album is entitled "Endgame" and will be released on 15 March 2011. Two singles have already been released. I personally love the Album "Appeal to reason" released back in 2008

as far as their myspace uploads, everbody! come outside is a really good one
Man, saying that Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica are Viking Mteal is like saying Katy Perry is an orchestral singer. Just don't. Alas, here are my humble recomendations (mostly metal genres)
Really, if you want a band that sings about sagas and legends, with an awesome female singer, you've found it. Nothing else to add.Leaves Eyes/Forgot Their Location/Symphonic/Viking Metal/
Here
Another amazing band, with some nice lyrics and instruments.Amberian Dawn/Finland/Symphonic Metal/Here
You can download a single from their upcoming album if you visit the site, so just do it.Krypteria/Germany/Power Melodic Music/Here
Alright, I admit it, I have a knack for female fronted metal bands. But the singing and intruments mix so well...Edenbridge/Germany?/Symphonic/Here
Ahrr, you have ta respect da pirates! But really, they're awesome, really capturing that "pirate" feeling in their songs.AleStorm/Scotland/Folk Power Metal/Here
This band shows us how illegal music download can be bad. The band simply ceased to exist, because no one bought their albuns, since you can download them, and such the band had no money to maintain studio recording and such. Really, their music is so great that it made em feel bad about downloading music.Celtic Legacy/Celtica?/Folk Metal/Here
I guess that's all for today, maybe some other day I'll bring you some more quality music, aye?
Bump of Chicken < I think this band name is a lost in translation that stuck

Great band, their new album is fucking amazing.
If you're into the whole psychedelic 60s feel, I'd suggest checking out Broadcast. Trish Keenan has a soothing voice. Shame last night I found out that she had passed away back in January from pneumonia. Terrible news to hear because their music was so good. Hopefully her voice lives on.

For anyone into post-rock and ambient music (like me), I'd check out Set Fire to Flames. Really good post-rock/ambient stuff from them.
