If you enjoy standard FPS games chances are you will be thoroughly entertained by the gameplay. Also, the storyline is amazing in the first one. That game was an instant classic for me. The second one is excellent too, although it couldn't live up to the impossibly awesome first one.

I adore Bioshock and I'm not especially fond of standard FPS games in general.

I thought most people loved Bethesda and went: "OMGZ, OBLIVVVVION". I think the Elder Scrolls games are the only Bethesda games I've played. Oblivion sucks a lot less with a mod. to remove level scaling.

Yeah, the plasmids and tonics don't feel like tacked on gimmicks like a lot of similar mechanics in other FPS games do, and genuinely add a lot of depth to the gameplay.

Honestly, I don't understand how anyone couldn't squeeze at least a little bit of fun out of Bethesda's games. I mean, they might not be the best dev studio, and certainly you can find gripes with certain aspects of their games, but the worlds are just so open ended and there's so much to do, I can't help but feel completely immersed once I get into them. But everyone's different I guess, that's just me.
