It's not quite that bad. I still hear the bi-weekly rants about stupid Americans. And everyone else hears an accent, I just happen have spent the past four years talking to him every day of my life. There's an episode of I Love Lucy in which Lucy tells Ricky she's learned to "listen with an accent." It's sort of like that.
