sonic 4 episode 1 was the last great one i played. im in the minority but i enjoyed all the sonic games that ive played so far. i have to admit sonic 2006 had a couple of flaws but it was still a decent game IMO.

Have anyone tried this? It's made by fans, and not Sega. It's sidescroller in 3D
you have to download it, but it's worth it

Note: it's still just a demo, but try it

Sonic Heroes is the last okayish game I played, but it certainly wasn't great, 'cept for the awesome theme song.

    Sonic3+Knuckles?

I think sometime we need to discuss why the 3d Sonic games have been so bad. I think it has to do with the transition from sidescrolling to 3rd person. Sonic and mario were considered rivals back in the day, but which one has been the more successful transition? Mario of course. Why hasn't sonic transitioned correctly? I think the problem maybe fundamental to why the sidescroller sonic games are so popular, but the 3d sonic games are decent to downright garbage. I think it may be safe to say that for the time being, sonic should stay sidescrolling and should avoid the 3d until sega can figure out what they are doing wrong. Perhaps they can ask Nintendo what they did right for mario or are the fundamentals too different?

Sonic and Knuckles had a slot on top that allowed it to conbine with other sonic games similar to how a gameshark or game genie had a slot on top. Sonic 3 was so big they had to split it into two games. So you could combine Sonic 3 with Sonic and Knuckles to have the uberness that is also known as Sonic 3 and Knuckles, just like the game was made to be played. You could also combine it with sonic 2 to play the entire 2nd game as knuckles. If you combined it with the first game and did something, you could play all of the bonus levels from 3 as sonic, tails, or knuckles. Also did you know Michael Jackson did the music for Sonic 3?

I really enjoyed Sonic Unleashed when you were normal Sonic, but the beast parts were horrible.

Sonic 3 & knuckles. hands down. I like the 3D sonic games and all, but the last game I remember to not contain too many unwanted characters was sonic 3 with the sonic and knuckles add on. long gameplay, classic momentum physics, 3 characters to play as, epic boss battles, psudo 3d bonus rounds, several directions to go in any level, and some of the best graphics I've ever seen on any system ever!

Oh no, sorry, I meant that has to be my answer since I couldn't think of anything else. Hence the shrugging smilie. I can totally see how I could get misunderstood though.

Sonic Rush and Sonic Advance are the only modern ones I can honestly say I've enjoyed.

Sega have had fifteen years to figure out how to make a decent 3D Sonic game. It ain't happening, bro.

I think maybe Sonic should stay as a sidescroller too. Some of the 3D Sonic games are good, but not all of them. Like Sonic adventure 2 battle, my favourite one. I love that game, and I enjoy playing it. but it would be cool if they made a really, really good one, sometme.

    We just have to wait

    I Hate the DS

Ya im serious although im not trying to troll. I hate the D-Pad on them, the corners on the DSlite and above that digs into your palms if you play for an extended period and too many games on it are trash unfortunately.

It has potential but its wasted on 95% of its games

I have to disagree. while i DO agree Mario did the better in the transitions, that does not nessecarilly mean it transitioned properly. sure mario has had some blockbusters since the big transition,(mario 64, mario galaxy 1) but, really, arn`t they doing the exact same thing? releaseing games just to get money? since the new systems came out they released The new super mario bros. mario 64 ds, mario galaxy, mario galaxy 2, new super mario bros wii, super paper mario, and other games that have connections to mario(yoshis island ds, super princess peach.) I find too many companys are doing this nowadays, and its at the point where one game a year from the series is STILL to much.

some other series going down this road include CoD, GH, Rockband, Tetris, and, as much as I hate to say these, The legend of zelda and metroid. think about that for a while.
I can't believe I got the admins to give me a Sesame Street username.

I just got a DS like 2 weeks ago, and Sonic Colors isn't near the top of my list of games I wanna play.

I'm kinda stuck between the Adventure games, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and as much as I love the Adventure game, I think I have to give it to Sonic 3 & Knuckles. And someone a page back said he considers Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles as 2 seperate games, but they were origonally supposed to be a single game, but time constraints and cartridge costs caused them to split it into 2 games with the lock on feature to unlock the one full origonal game.
