It was a pc from the thrift store. I'm amazed it's still standing. Didn't come with any discs, and i've yet to buy the os for my "real" computer along with some other components. Man I really don't wanna buy two operating systems.

check the bios start up there may be a recovery in there, be warned if there is it will wipe everything

Yeah I thought I saw something but was hesitant to click it, my stuff isn't backed up yet. If it wipes it how will I reinstall without the disc though, is the thing.

Well recovery mode will wipe everything and reinstall everything to like how you got it when it was new

I did a partial restore(the one that makes a backup of your hd) once before in the BIOS, and I thought it fixed things. I wonder if it's a bad hard drive like I had suspected.
