    Missing drivers? Fuck if I know, I've used ubuntu for a total of about 2 weeks in my lifetime You're better off asking at the ubuntu forums.

    You'd install an OS on a PS3 for more or less the same reasons you would install one on a PC.

    You should know this.

    A PS3 works perfectly fine without installing an OS. A PC doesn't.

    Not really, you still wouldn't get near the functionality of a PC. If consoles were meant to have a unix based OS on them, they'd be shipped with them.
