    Default updating firmware

I've just bought silent hill for psp. The firmware update is to 3.52 and im on DA 3.10.

It allows me to play the game but when i put it on standby all i get is a loadinf screen. The question is due to my psp being the fat one should i bother considering upgrading to a custom firmware? I enjoy playing my psx games but if i do update to a custom firmware do i have to install all the others before it?

Also if i do update my firmware to the one on the umd ((3.52)) can i update it afterwards to another custom firmware?

What is the highest custom firmware out there at the moment?

To update to custom firmware from official 3.52 you'd need a Pandora's battery. To use custom firmware without a PB, you'd need to update to official 3.50, you then can use Lumines to downgrade to 1.5 before upgrading to higher custom firmware.

Check these YouTube videos for more info...They are some of the best I've seen.

Im pretty sure everything will work apart from the old version of Popsloader (the 3.80 version is on DA's site).

    Get 3.80m33 then 3.80m33-5 and you're set

The readme in the 3.80M33 folder claims you need a PSP with 3.52 M33-3 or higher.

    Nope USB or cardreader only.

But when you're at 3.80 you can use Network Update for future updates.

You can go from from 3.40OE to 3.52M33-4 following this.

Don't know about the saves. After you've installed it, you'll need to go into recovery mode to enable the Sony ISO loader if you want it.

Dont see why saves would be lost; they're kept in a completely different folder to where the upgrading stuff goes (PSX=>Game), and the upgrade changes nothing on your card.
