I'm gonna pass on some of SegNins good advice. Download Deamon tools @ http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php, install,
mount cd image of the game(left click the Tray icon, click on device 0, and it should bring up a browse window)
make sure that Analog Audio is enabled(right click tray icon, go to options, make sure Analog audio is checked)
then go into ePSXe > File > run from CDROM

I use this a bit so ask for help if you need to.

Eh I dunno how that'll help. That'll only make the CDDA play or something.

Try pSX: http://psxemulator.gazaxian.com/ (Doesn't require plugins etc)

Actually, I was having the same problem with Blood Omen, tried this, it worked. I still don't have sound in some of the cut scenes, but that's not so bad.

Edit: One of us probably solved his problem because he was viewing this and then logged off.

Tomb Raider requires the CDDA tracks to be emulated properly or it won't let you past the title screen.

It will run in pSX if you run it from an image but not from the original CD (I have an original Greatest Hits version). As for ePSXe I've never gotten it to run the CDDA tracks in it no matter what I do. pSX first introduced CDDA support in version 1.8 so any version after that will work as well. Every time a new version comes out the first thing I do is test Tomb Raider and so far the only problems I have are win running with the CD in my drive but it works perfectly when I run it from an image.

    Not even with Daemon Tools?
With Analog Audio enabled (if it was the old 3.xx series)

Well, I did get it to work by using Daemon Tools.
I even posted screenshots here--but I'm not sure if they survived the rollback.

ePSXe uses anolog audio? Well that explains a lot. I have Alcohol 120% installed on my computer so installing Daemon Tools tends to confict with it so I avoid installing them both on the same computer. pSX runs it fine so I'm not worried about it (that and I barely have time to play games anymore with all the work I'm doing). Also pSX support CDDA tracks even with loading the image directly unlike ePSXe which will only run it as a single data track image. You have to load the image via the cue or ccd file for it to work though.

Sorry if this is a little late, (took me nearly 2 weeks before I could post) but has anyone yet figured a way to get the cdda tracks working with the cue file? As I can only run the image in cue form from daemon as well, minus the soundtrack, under ePSXe.. (I'm using a cue file from retail "value series" version)

Zip and upload your cue file as an attachment.

Thanks for the reply and just to clarify, I have in-game sound but no accompanying music/soundtrack so I can't tell if I uncover any secrets.... I'm guessing you just want the 5kb cue file in rar and not the iso as well because on my connection that's just unfeasible. Anyway, here's the link..

Oh yeah, there was something else..

dunno if that has any bearing on a lack of sound though..

Your cue file shows the ISO was ripped with ISOBuster.

Did you rip it yourself from an original copy?

If you did, then try ripping it again with CDRWin:

Maybe try mounting it with Alcohol 120 or 52 (the free one)?

And is your copy of Tomb Raider the Euro-PAL or US-NTSC version?

To your first question, yes, it was ripped from the "value series" version with isobuster and the value series is PAL (you can see it in the screen-shot I posted above your reply).. I've tried the CDRWin but I keep getting this error regardless of the error recovery setting..

..though that's easily explained by the accompanying faq that states.."This software will also not defeat the copy protection scheme on any game disc (PlayStation, Saturn, PC, etc)."

I had a similar problem with isobuster, but was able to continue, so I'm guessing it's either to do with the disc itself or the possibility that my dvd-writer doesn't like this particular cd-rom.. i.e It's had problems reading some cds before. Also had problems using alcohol120 with this writer a couple of years ago so it could be the culprit here.. but I'll let you be the judge of that.

Then the best thing to do is to download a copy from here:
