After almost two years with a relatively mid-range computer, I built myself a new one, as it died on me as I was plugging in an external hard drive...
Instead of typing up everything, here's the new stuff I got in a convenient snapshot of Newegg's ordering system:
This was added onto an existing framework of two internal hard drives (160GB & 300GB, respectively), a Lite-on DVD burner, and an Audigy2 ZS.
So far, this beast of sorts can run Crysis in medium-high settings, and nearly everything else I throw at it on high. In the near future, I'm planning on an upgrade to an Acer 20" LCD (coming from a 17" CRT, ugh...), a new keyboard (Saitek Eclipse II right now, keys fucking failing left and right), and a nice speaker setup to compliment my surround headphones (probably Logitech x540s). Wish me luck.
lets see i got a compy which has this(it isnt very good though)
XP Home
AMD Sempron Processor 3100+
1.80GHz
16MHz FSB
256 KB L2 Cache
Hard Drive
100GB ATA Hard Drive
Memory
512MB SDRAM(added 1GB more so 1.5GB)
Video
nVIDIA GeForce 6100
Optical Drive
DVD+-RW
Multi-Format Drive
Modem
56K ITU V.92 Ready Fax/Modem
Other
5 USB ports
10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN
and thats what this hunk of junk has printed on it![]()

I'll take my chances then. If I was able to play Oblivion with a 6600GT, I don't think I'll suffer with this. Plus, with LCD prices coming down, I don't think there will be a better time to jump in than on Christmas.
Btw, I need some recommendations. I'm looking at the Acer line of 20" LCDs. Respectable? Also, I am looking for a new, basic keyboard. Logitech or Microsoft, and nothing above $30. I spent $60 on his Eclipse II and was disappointed after only about 3/4 of years usage. Thanks.
I have no experience with Acer line of 20inch LCD's however i've owned an Acer AL2216WBD myself and it was a mighty fine (and cheap!) monitor. Additionally, I often sell BenQ FP202W and sold Viewsonic-Optiquest Q20WB. I'd recommend the FP202W over the Q20WB, this is frankly a shitty monitor.
So far I have no return on the many FP202W's I've sold and 2 of 3 Q20WB I've sold came back.
Edit: As for the keyboard I have no real recommendation to do. I used to have pretty standard keyboard which did the job fine, but I got a good deal on a Logitech G15 rev 1 so that's what i'm using right now.
the only downside to lcd's is not playing a game at your monitors native resolution, it's just not as crisp as you would want it to be.
