    Default making images(DC)

    heya
i just received a bunch of dreamcast games(80 discs) and would like to makes images of them all. quite a few of them are backups and work in the console normally. i have a few questions

-the backups that work, they must be selfboot? and is there any way to make sure.

-im told normal drives cannot read the full discs(2 TOC' or something), what firmware do i need for my pc dvd drive(LiteON) to read the full discs.

-what program/image format should i use? i usually just use plain iso with UltraISO for pc games but have used programs such as Alcohol. are there any extra settings i should observe when making the image files?

-region, do DC games have regions like all other consoles or is it irrelevant? i asume these games are all PAL but have noticed in the torrents that the region for most of teh DC games is not listed.

-is it hard to make selfbooting backups from originals?

-anything else i should be aware of

You can't open it and connect it to the PC anyway.

There are 3 days of dumping the contents of a GD-ROM to the PC.

    1. Serial Cable (slow transfer rate)
    2. Broad band adapter (fast as fuck) (super rare)
    3. Opening a compatible CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive and hot swapping it with a CD/GD-ROM.

that sucks. most of the best games are originals so i cant copy them. its a shame, the collection has been treated poorly; alot of the discs are ruined(physical damage to discs). that includes originals, the backups are even worse off because they are on really cheap cdrs

Every game released on the Dreamcast in the US, and almost all of the Euro/JAP releases have already been ripped, so all you have to do is find and download the images of your originals. The hard work has already been done for you

Not to mention to ensure it could fit on a CD-R you'd have to know how to rip certain files out or do downsampling of music/videos. Unlike a standard PSX disc it's near impossible to do a 1:1 copy of a Dreamcast title without pulling something out or decreasing the size of it.

Put it this way I bought a serial cable I haved ripped one game myself.
I think it took me 1 hr to learn to set it up. It takes nearly 24hrs to DL the data from DC 2 PC. Then it took me three months and over 200CDRs to I got it right.
    I never bothered again.
Download scene releases and store your originals.
