I envy him, he's just now unconvering the amazingness of FF9

    XD

I still need to play a lot of rgps myself. I have never played any star oceans, wild arms, xeno's, parasite eves, or palyed the whole way through ff7 and ff8.

Super Mario RPG is the shit the first time through. If you've played any of the Paper Mario games (I'm not sure about the newest one though, from what I have read its quite different), then you know the main storyline already. I am tempted to play through it again.

Der Langrisser for the SNES has a translation patch for the rom, I just played through it once, pretty fun. More than one path to take gives it replayability, but I got tired of the battle system part way into the second replay.

I got quite a bit of fun out of Inindo: Way of the Ninja first time I played through. Quite an interesting system it uses.

Valkyrie Profile for the PSX, great fun.

If you are really into the story of an RPG, and you like strategy RPG's, grab Zone of the Enders - The Fist of Mars. It is by far the most engrossing story on the GBA that I've played.

And there's my two cents. You got ripped off though, because it's only a penny for my thoughts.

Although it has been mentioned a few times: Super Mario RPG (SNES) It's a fantastic RPG and I deeply disappointed that the emulator I was trying it on would keep having the menu screen scroll while the game froze.
EarthBound (SNES) In my opinion is the best game of all time and highly recommend it.
Lufia 2 (SNES) An entertaining RPG with quite a few puzzles.
Sweet Home (NES) A survival horror RPG. Never thought the two would work so well.
Persona (PSX/PS2) Any of them. They're all great. (Admittedly I found 4 to be better because I couldn't understand the combining feature in the original.)
Mother (NES) Along with Sweet Home it's the only RPG on the NES that I could play without force. Which has been ported to the GBA along with EarthBound. The Mother part of it has gotten a translation which can be found here: http://mother12.earthboundcentral.com/
