    Default Few Questions

Hey all, I have a few questions I'm unsure of, and I hope one of you can answer it for me?

    - On yTorrent, my percentage is going about .1% every 5-8 seconds. I only have one download going, and the only programs running is this site, which i'm not even looking around much, and the firewall/virus scan that's automatically active. Is there anything I can do to make it faster, or is that about the right amount?

    - I have the basic things for my computer, is there anything I should have on my computer besides the firewall and anti-virus? EX: Everest. Programs that are kick ass or at least helps your computer and deserves to be on it.

    - Is there a better site than projectplaylist.com for music? This site lets you listen to bands without downloading them. They're made to put on a playlist and put on myspace. It's kind of shitty, but useful, I was just wondering if anyone knows a better place.

    thanks

    Awesome, thanks bro.

Well I use cable broadband by road runner, it's good speeds and my comp is updated. My set up is a bit weird though..I has the modem far off in the living room, and I like to get on the internet in my room. So I have a long ethernet cord going from the modem into a router in my room. Then I have another ethernet cord from my router to my laptop in my room. I have to set my network connection to my ip address from the original modem so it's a working IP (65.ect..) the router gives off the (192.) and it doesn't let me connect that way. I tried setting my thing up wirelessly, but I can't. My router is the only available network to connect to (it's wireless) but it used to be a dsl modem. I don't have dsl, so it doesn't connect to the internet, and I don't think there's a way to re router the router so it doesn't need that, but yeah, that's how I'm set up.

Lol, I mean I'm running a router, sort of. I use it as an extension os the internet reaches my room. I have two ethernet cords in the routher Its in my room, the real modem is in my living room) One port is used by the modem, and the other is for the laptop. It has wireless compatability, though I can't get it set-up, because it is a dsl modem, and I don't know how that'd work. It shows I can get into it on my wireless network, but I don't have the network key, and last time I tried to get it working, it didn't work.

Well, the router works apparently since I can connect to the internet. Although I have to change the IP because it doesn't connect with the roter's 192 ip it gives me. I use the modem I have's IP and put it in my network settings under tcp/tp proerties and change is so its 'put your own ip address in' instead of 'automatically detect ip address'. Pain in the ass, bu at least i'm comfortable. So could that be why it's slowed down? The internet seems fast though. I think I got a 7kbs for downloads last time I checked.

What can I do to make ir faster? I know it's capable of it. I guess I'll try to do the modem to computer and see it if helps. The closest service thing showed me was miami and it was 250 miles away. (The speed test)..

It's a westell versalink 327w. I tried just going directly from the modem to the laptop and it was still 6k. I chose a place than was i think 50 miles from me too. The ethernet cable is pretty long, maybe a short one close to the modem would be better? I get the same results with or without a router...
