Seems fairly obvious to me.
A show that parodies the whole death metal scene would require that you know enough about the death metal scene to understand the references so you could get the jokes.
So, Paladin, how familiar are you with the death metal scene?
I'm guessing not very.
WARNING BIG SPOILER AHEA
I haven't ignored what you guys have said, I just don't understand the references. Take for example the episode where one of the band guys (acoustic guitar?), the dude with the long brown hair, goes from wimpy to wearing blood-soaked spiked shoulder pads and tries burning everything with a flamethrower, then a little girl (fan) tries to meet him to return him to his old self, and then at the end of the episode she's found, dead, with worms and magots eating out here eyes.
Now, what the hell is that a reference to? If maybe I knew some of the background/nouns that they were referencing, I might find that funny.
About the whole "righteous indignation" thing... wut is dat? No clue what you just said bro.
Okay. So can anyone here sum up the death metal scene in a few of paragraphs?

EDIT-
"The vocals are often grunts, snarls, and low gurgles colloquially called death grunts or death growls. This vocal style is sometimes referred to as Cookie Monster vocals because of the similarities with Sesame Street's character"

I don't think that article will help him much. For starters, it talks almost entirely about the music rather than the image and people around it. Good idea, but not much use when the show depends on the scene rather than the music.
Beyond that, the show takes on some death metal trappings (and also the trappings of other metal styles, albeit not to the same extent) but most of the jokes are typical black humour taken a bit further rather than anything specific to metal (the metal references are pretty evenly spread amongst the styles, not favouring death metal over the others. They're also more easter eggs than the main source of humour).
edit: I could try and sum up both the main scenes that it references and the idea of black humour, but I'll hold off on that until someone wants me to.

Yeah, but that wiki entry has a lot of links to other pages that might be more helpful.
Like maybe this one:

Segnin gets +1 rep for both his posts once the forums allow me to.

We are quite unhelpful, why didn't we all give a link to wikipedia articles on metal culture and the show itself?
Google is so hard to uuuuuuuuse.![]()

Dr. Rockso kicks ass. Metalocalypse is the hilarious! but still <Venture Brothers.
And Borat=G0D
Most people that didn't find that movie funny reacted as though disgusted by Borat. Actually, it is the American people themselves who these people should be disgusted with. The most decent people he ran into were the driving instructor and the 4 black guys hanging out on the stairs. Then there's the old guy at the rodeo talking about hanging gay, black and Jewish people.
Good old fashioned American values there.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Actually, I just found it plain dull. Filmed in crummy manner apparently means "unscripted" these days. Borat works better in the Ali G show. So much better.
Michael Ballack, he scores free-kicks.
He's got black hair, and he's german.
Michael Ballack, trains in paddocks.
in his spare time, HE FARMS HADDOCKS!
Watch me play Super C, guys!!
It was a funny idea.
