Extra hdds aren't a big problem as long as you get a case with a few bays. Plus you can always go external if you have to for movies and stuff.

You should only need enough room for an optical drive and 2x internal HDDs max. Larger drives are always getting cheaper so if you use 2 of them it's fairly quick and easy to swap out the second one for a larger drive.
Backing up shit you use externals and don't keep them hooked up unless you're actually using them.

so is it still recommended to use an ssd for an os apps? or could I get away with using a non-ssd for that stuff?
