Spoiler warning:
You must be a very slow typist if the addition of two more characters in a word slows you down that much. Yes, technically "your" is faster to type than "you're," but just barely. It may not seem like a huge deal, but getting out of the habit of using the wrong word is something you'll probably want to start. Doesn't look great when there are spelling/grammatical mistakes on a company email, for example. I'm constantly facepalming at some of the emails I have to read at work from our assistant store manager, who is constantly using the wrong words or butchering sentences in general. An example that happened a couple of weeks ago: "just regard last email." That was it. I know what she meant, but seriously... (FYI: since there are two ways to interpret that sentence, that was the biggest fail in my books. She meant "disregard." If I had interpreted it differently, I might have wasted time doing something that didn't need to be done because one person know English.)
Also, if you end up in a position where you are communicating with others in an office/in the same company strictly via email, they will think you are retarded if you don't use proper English. Doesn't matter how intelligent you might actually be -- when the only basis for analysis is your shitty writing skills, you come across looking like a retard.
I don't think I ever had an infraction. If I did it was probably something stupid, like spamming or something like that. But I was made a mod relatively early in my time here, so I probably got away with a lot more than what I should have.![]()
