    Default People piss me off. (World 'txt' championships inside)

    http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599...-13762,00.html

    • 250 competitors enter US Texting Championship
    • Morgan Pozgar, 13, wins the title
    • Trains by sending 8000 text message each month

    IT'S a pursuit only for the fleet of thumb with a ruthless dedication to punctuation. And while competitive text-messaging may not have gained Olympic status, the hundreds of mostly teenagers who took part in the US championships in New York over the weekend could think of little but the $US25,000 ($29,900) prizemoney.

    This girl is wrong in the mind-tank.

    I have calculated, that a text conversation, ranging from about 6 - 8 messages (25 cents a message) spanning about 10 minutes, equates to one short phone call spanning about 2 minutes (Probably uses about a dollar).

    It is much easier, and cheaper to call.

    And frankly, I would much rather talk to somebody directly instead of wait a few minutes for each reply.

    Also;

    to the less poetic but urgent "OMG, nd 2 talk asap," which (for those over 30) means "Oh my God, need to talk as soon as possible."
    What the fuck?!?!?!

    If somebody sent me that message, I would probably be thinking "Fuck off, you ignorant fuck. If you wanted to talk to me that badly, you would have just fucking called me"

    Blargh. People piss me off.

    Also;

    She's using a phone with a fucking keyboard!

    Jesus.

    Pozgar said she trained by sending on average 8000 text messages a month to her friends - an astonishing rate of one every 5 1/2 minutes.
    That's nuts. Mayday!

    Shoulda waited for tomorrow to say that.

    A competition to see who is the fastest at using text messaging (that thing where people type with their cell phones/other portable comms devices). Some 13 year old won. Apparently the prize is ~25K American.

    Darth is pissed at the kind of people who text, and the fact that she was using a keyboard cellphone, instead of a normal cell phone. And the fact that she texts constantly, and "trains" for this thing, instead of just calling. Or something of that nature.

    Uh, yeah.

    Text messaging is inefficient.

    Although it's still useful when you can't "talk". More privacy, less noise, etc.

    But in most cases, a phone call is far superior.

    And there are competitions for everything, it was just a matter of time before texting became a big competition. As with all competitions, some people take things way too seriously.

    Text has it's uses. Mainly for use in school. That's the only time I use it. Except wehn tlking to Alexa, but that's because she runs up her minutes talking. (To me coincidentally) So we turn to texting since we're both on a free text thing.

    Anyone under the age of 15 shouldn't even have a phone. Seriously.

    That girl has too much spare time, methinks.

    Also, "train"? Oh God.
