Yes i agree someone tell EA Games that there is no reason for a DS game to cost $40. The $30 price is much better and you can get most games for $25 at Kaybee, ToysRus, and Target some time or another. Ive even got Wario Ware and Spiderman 2 for $45 on the release day of Touched. Besides most DS games are more about being gimmicy. Robots is the first game I seen that uses the touch screen effectively as a submenu that is always open.
The PSP on the other hand is just as gimmicy, most of you just dont see it . If for some reason I need my PS2 to be portable it has to last more than 2 hrs.

MP3 player biuld in gimmic > Go to the gym with your new MP3 player strapped to your arm and jog on the treadmill

UMD Movies > Buy this movie in our format so we can throw this down everyones throat later. "Larger skeam of things to sell UMD drives for laptops, PDA, ect if this indrustry takes off for them"

Picture Viewer > Must I say anything about this.

If someone post about being able to plug thier PSP in the car for longer rides please dont. Just buy the moniter for your PS2 and go. Heck thats what I would do with my Gamecube. I can even buy a battery to give me about two hours of gameplay. Two Hours cool Ill bring that with me to the beach now thats some good graphic portable gaming right?"Joking"
The gamecube screen came out about a year before the PS2 so dont laugh

I like the DS mostly for the single cart multi feature. The PSP is really cool but a true portable, not for me. I dont see any really great games for any one of these systems yet. Just a couple good ones for the DS. I havent played any PSP games but the only one I would even get would be Metal Gear, but they made it a card battling something (so I heard). Just the thought turned my stomach.

Now Im sitting here waiting for Metriod, then and only then will this be solve

I hate to break it to you, but having a sub-menu that's always open? That's a gimmick. Also, the game is a poor example, because it's a port of the GBA game, with the only addition being, you guessed it, the sub-menu. Yup. That's it.

Granted, most of the DS' games are gimmicky, but that's kinda the point. It's a system that's built around the gimmick of it's dual-screens. Even so, people tend to throw the term "gimmick" around to liberaly, without thinking. Something can be gimmicky and still successful in it's own right.

    Yeah.

    Uneducated comments always thrill me.

Yeah, we PSP owners don't see that the PSP is a gimmick. Right. 'Cause y'know, it's not. It's no more a gimmick then any other portable to come before it. It just happens to have functions beyond simply playing games. Perhaps you can say that they're gimmicky, but they're just nifty extras that are there if you want to use 'em, and you don't have to if you don't want to.

As for your comment about battery life, the system has held up surprisingly well in that area in my experience with it. I've was able to watch Spiderman 2 all the way through, with more then half a charge left. I then played a couple hours of THUG 2, and still had charge left to spare.

MP3 player biuld in gimmic > Go to the gym with your new MP3 player strapped to your arm and jog on the treadmill
Or alternately, take your shiney new PSP with you and listen to MP3's on that. Then play some Ridge Racer while you're taking a break.

UMD Movies > Buy this movie in our format so we can throw this down everyones throat later. "Larger skeam of things to sell UMD drives for laptops, PDA, ect if this indrustry takes off for them"
Jeez. Noone's forcing anyone to buy them. If the possibility that the format will take off and become an industry standard bothers you, then don't support it with your money.

I for one don't care either way. I can put my own movies on a memory stick, or I can buy a UMD if I so chose. It's really all the same to me.

Picture Viewer > Must I say anything about this.
Why not? You've said something about several other facets of the PSP, so why not enlighten us with your take on this particular aspect?

It's just a nifty feature that's there if you wanna use it, and if you don't, noone's forcing you to.

I can take it or leave it, as I don't take enough pictures to warrant using it. Even so, I'm glad it's there should I ever have the need for it.

I dont see any really great games for any one of these systems yet.
How would you know? I love it how people make this comment without having played any games.

It'd be better to say, "There aren't any games that catch my interest.", or something to that effect.

Handheld gaming devices has almost always been a portable version of it's console counter part. But it's now with the PSP that it suddently has become a bad thing.. Same with "ports" like THUG etc. Ports has ALWAYS been a huge part of handheld gaming. But for some reason ports are uncool now. I mean nowadays they atleast add new content when they port a game.

On a more positive note, did anyone here that EA are gonna release C&C and Red Alert for PSP? Shocking, but oh so intresting.

ugh. like i said before, u get what you pay for. you get your money's worth for both of them. psp = portable ps2, ds = portable n64. did you really expect the psp to come in at a lower price or same price as the ds? the ds is inferior to the psp. hence, u get what u pay for. and after seeing the graphics on the new castlevania game for ds, i'm disappointed. its basically another gba title. might as well be anyway.

Hahahaha! Dude, why is it that everyone seems to think that the DS Castlevania looks like the GBA games?

The DS Castlevania is more comperable to SotN then it is the GBA games. Seriously, go and look at screen-shots of Aria of Sorrow, then take a look at screens of the DS version. And really look at them. Give them some serious attention for more then a couple seconds, and you'll see that the difference between them is like night and day.

i've seen shots in some game mag, i forgot which one which was, maybe a few weeks ago. sorry, but, IMO it did look like a basic castlevania game for the gba. pixils everywhere, graphically no comparison to SOTN unless you mean that the similarities lie in both game's styles.

Well, it's a shame that you're not the exception when it comes to this game. Alot of people have the same deficiency when it comes to being able to see the difference in graphical quality between the DS Castlevania and Aria of Sorrow.

I'm gonna go ahead and look for this screen-shot comparison some dude put together to educate misguided souls such as yourself. If you still deny that the game isn't a graphical upgrade beyond the GBA versions after seeing this, then you're just full of shit.

Barring my inability to find said comparison, I suggest you check out the screens, videos and gameplay footage from GAMESPOT. Yeah, go to it then...

ok, i'll check it out. if indeed i do find any graphical improvements i'll admit to it of course. however even if there ARE such improvements, i highly doubt its comparable to SOTN. that game is just.....timeless.

I guess I'd be willing to meet you half way. I mean...seriously, even if you're in denial about wether or not this game is comperable to SotN, there's absolutely no way you can say that it looks like the GBA versions and not be completely wrong.

o...my...god. well, judging by the hella small screen i saw the clip in, the actual character looks gba bound. everything else is VERY sotn comparable. it blends the best of the gba games and sotn. with that said, i take back every bad thing i ever said on this game for the ds and on the ds. i thank cyber for edumacating me on this ds title and now i'll have to save up and buy a frickin ds for this castlevania lol

Hah. Your inordinate amounts of ass-kissing aside, I'm glad to have helped you to see the light.

Although...Soma's sprite is both better drawn and more richly animated then in the GBA version........

As for the N64 audio channels, the reason that the PSX/PS2 have better audio is that they don't use the synthesis very much. Instead they play pre-recorded audio, which the N64 didn't have room for due to it's stupid decision to use cartridges instead of cds.

i couldn't tell about the sprite's. i mean, he did move smoothly but, i dunno. he looked way too much like he did in gba. i need to get this game.
